Thanksgiving Letter from Mr. Rogers
Dear Glenwood Families,
This Thanksgiving week, I would encourage each of us to reflect on the blessings we share and express gratitude for the many opportunities we have to learn, grow, and serve one another. Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and community, and here at Glenwood School, we are incredibly thankful for each of you – our caring staff, hardworking students, and supportive families.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to share a few words from our nation's past leaders, whose reflections on this special holiday continue to inspire us today.
President George Washington, in his 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation, called on the American people to "acknowledge the providence of the Almighty" and to "thank Him for His care and protection." His message encourages us to take a moment to appreciate the many blessings in our lives, and to remember those who are less fortunate.
Similarly, in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday, urging Americans to "fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation." Lincoln’s words remind us of the power of gratitude to bring us together, even in times of challenge, as we strive to reunite as a nation on the freedom and liberties that our great nation was founded upon.
As we reflect on these thoughtful words, I encourage each of us to pause and give thanks—not just for the abundance of this season, but for the kindness, cooperation, and spirit of community that defines our school. Whether it’s a smile shared in the hallway, a helping hand in the classroom, or a word of encouragement from a teacher, it is the everyday moments of gratitude that strengthen us as a school family.
I am truly thankful for the opportunity to work with such dedicated educators and students, and I look forward to all that we will continue to accomplish together in the months ahead. May your Thanksgiving be filled with joy, peace, and countless blessings.
With warmest wishes for a happy Thanksgiving,
Robert Rogers
